Jamal Khashoggi
Saudi Arabia. For years they have been known as a super conservative country where woman can‘t drive, gay people get flogged and thieves get their hands chopped off. Last year Saudi Arabia got a new leader crown prince Mohammed Bin Salman or just MBS for short. Many people were hoping that he would transform Saudi Arabia into a more progressive nation, and on the surface it seemed like Saudi Arabia was changing until the disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi. Jamal was a Saudi Arabian journalist who was well known for his thoughtful critic of Saudi Arabia‘s royal family. Jamal Khashoggi was also a US resident and journalist for Washington post. The last time that he was seen was on October 2nd 2018, entering the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul, Turkey to pick up his paperwork. According to Amid news reports Jamal Khashoggi had never left the building from then and was brutally killed and dismembered inside. Initially the Saudi Arabian goverment denied the death, claiming Khashoggi had left the consulate alive through the backdoor also claiming that the reason there was no footage of him leaving was the fact that the backdoor cameras weren't saving any of it. According to CNN Jamal Khashoggi was killed by 15 assassins sent by Saudi Arabian government that flew to Istanbul from Saudi Arabia with private planes the same day that Jamal was killed and left after less than 24 hours. After a few weeks Saudi Arabia changed their story about Jamal‘s disappearance now saying that Jamal accidentally died in the Saudi Arabian consulate when a fight broke out during an interrogation. According to the latest news of CNN Turkish officials are convinced that the killing of Jamal was a premeditaded murder and they are now telling CNN that they even believe that Saudis went to the excent of sending a body double to pose as Khashoggi in order to cover up the murder.
